Ya as Slayer said, old news. Most of his sponsors have said they won't drop him. The best part is, that a British Tabloid broke the photo, not an American one.

I could see them stripping the medals had he been caught at the olympics doing that not at some random place months after the fact.

While that may be more fair, I dislike the fact that it would send the message to people that they can break the rules and laws just so long as they produce results. Famous people seem to get a get out of jail free card for being famous.
I don't think that anything bad will happen to him because he sent out a generic apology statement that some lawyer or whatnot crafted for him, but if the same thing happened to someone who wasn't famous and they said sorry, they wouldn't be afforded the same leniency.

Ya he should definitely be sent to jail or whatnot like everyone else.
Stripped of medals? Nah. I mean really, do the said illegal substances aid people in swimming? If so let me at 'em...
Just cause he likes less than admirable activities doesn't make him any less of an athlete.

seriously??? are you really trying to say that he should be thrown in jail??
first of all, no one knows whether or not weed was actually IN the bong, and anyone who was at the party who would claim it was weed in court could be dismissed as hearsay - there is no way to prove it.
second, who gives a RED ENGINE if he smoked pot?? legalize the god dang thing already!
it frustrates me when that county cop is like "we are going to try and prosecute him [for an alleged crime committed months ago where the only evidence is a blurry picture]." c'mon - this guy is just trying to get attention because he was voted "toughest cop" back in '99.
and like it was said before, it really speaks volumes that this pic/story was released in a british tabloid before an american one.

With all the testing they do at the olympics there is no way he was smoking then. So he had a puff or two months after the games - so what. Pot should be decriminalized in this country. Most of the so-called facts about weed are based on flat out lies that the US government spread over the last several decades. The truth is that it was made illegal in the first place in order to attempt to drive mexicans out of the southwest in the 1930's. Then the logging, paper, and textile industries got involved because they couldn't compete with the industrial uses of cannabis.
They are talking about charging him, but they have to prove where the picture was taken first.

In the particular place he was allegedly at when the picture was taken, they are going to give him the same fine that they give everyone 700 bucks and up to 30 days in jail.
He's not getting away with it with no repercussion.
And as for the general "legalize it" crowd in here, I'm just gonna start by saying, I'm no square, I hit the pipe from time to time, but the reason it's not legalized is this: talk to anyone you know who has habitually done it for years and you'll see why, they are stupid as balls. Seriously, though it may not be that damaging whatsoever when used form time to time, habitual use will make you FUNCTIONALLY and SOCIALLY retarded.
